Overview
Pario collects only what we need to run the service, keep your account safe, process deposits and withdrawals, and improve your experience. We do not sell your personal data, we do not list it as an asset for sale, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
This policy applies to your use of the Pario website and any other service we operate. It works alongside our Terms of Service.
Who we are
Pario is the data controller responsible for your personal information. When we say "Pario," "we," "us," or "our," we mean the legal entity operating the Pario service, based in Cameroon. For privacy questions, write to contact@pario.site.
Data we collect
These are the categories of personal data we actually collect.
Account data.
- Email address, name, password (stored as a one-way hash, never as plain text).
- Optional profile avatar, either a URL from a sign-in provider or an image you upload.
- Your referral code (auto-generated), and the referral code of whoever invited you (if any).
- Account creation date, last sign-in time, and the timestamps of changes you make.
Authentication data.
- If you sign in with Google, the identifier and basic profile information Google returns.
- If you enable two-factor authentication, the encrypted secret used to generate codes, and the verification timestamps.
- Session identifiers and Sanctum API tokens used to keep you signed in.
Device and security data.
- IP address, user agent, and approximate location derived from IP for each sign-in.
- A device fingerprint used to recognise devices you have marked as trusted.
- Standard server logs of requests, errors, and security events.
Wallet and bet data.
- Your wallet balance in FCFA.
- Every bet you place: the market, the outcome, the stake, the resulting payout (or refund) when the market resolves.
- Deposit and withdrawal records, including the amount, the payment method, and the reference returned by the payment partner. We do not store full card numbers or Mobile Money PINs.
- Markets you have bookmarked.
Activity data.
- Comments you post on a market, and the likes you give to other users' comments.
- Markets you have viewed.
Communications data.
- Messages you send through our contact form, email, or support channels.
- Feedback you submit to us.
We do not collect government-issued ID, date of birth, nationality, residential address, source of funds, or source of wealth as a routine part of opening an account. We may ask you for such information in a specific case (for example, a regulator's request, a payment partner's requirement, or a fraud investigation). We do not collect special-category data (health, religion, political views). If you choose to share it in a message, it is processed only to handle that message.
How we collect it
We collect personal data in three ways.
Directly from you, when you register, complete your profile, fund your wallet, place a bet, comment on a market, or contact us.
Automatically, through your browser, your device, and our server logs, including IP, user agent, device fingerprint, and session activity.
From third parties, when you sign in with Google (Google returns your identifier, name, email, and profile picture), and from payment partners when you deposit or withdraw (Mobile Money operators and card processors return a transaction reference and status).
How we use your data
We use your personal data to:
- Operate Pario, create and manage your account, and let you place bets.
- Process deposits and withdrawals through our payment partners, and credit settled payouts to your wallet.
- Recognise trusted devices, detect suspicious sign-ins, and protect your account.
- Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, market manipulation, and unlawful use of the service.
- Provide customer support, respond to your messages, and resolve disputes.
- Send service notices about your account, your bets, market resolutions, and changes to our terms or policies.
- Improve and develop new features, understand how Pario is used, and prioritise what to build next.
- Meet legal, regulatory, and law-enforcement requests, and enforce our terms.
We do not run automated decisions that would have a significant effect on you (such as automatically blocking deposits or trades). A human at Pario reviews any account action that affects you materially.
Legal bases
Where data protection law requires a specific legal basis, we rely on:
- Performance of a contract, to provide the service you signed up for and to act on your wallet and bet instructions.
- Compliance with a legal obligation, for record-keeping, tax-related reporting, and responses to lawful requests.
- Legitimate interests, including running and improving Pario, securing the platform, preventing fraud, and growing the business, balanced against your rights.
- Your consent, where required, for example for marketing communications. You can withdraw consent at any time.
International transfers
Some of the services we rely on (hosting, email delivery, Google sign-in) process data outside Cameroon. Where that happens, we put appropriate safeguards in place, such as standard contractual clauses or equivalent measures, so that your data remains protected to a level comparable to the one in your home country.
How long we keep it
We keep personal data only as long as we need it for the purposes set out in this policy or for as long as the law requires.
While your account is open, we keep your account, bet, deposit, withdrawal, and security data. After you close your account, we keep the financial and security records (bets, deposits, withdrawals, sign-in logs) for a period that lets us answer regulatory or dispute queries, then delete them. Soft-deleted account data is purged after a reasonable retention period. Aggregated and anonymised data may be kept indefinitely because it cannot be used to identify you.
How we protect it
We protect your account with a combination of technical and operational measures: passwords are stored as one-way hashes, two-factor secrets are encrypted at rest, all traffic uses HTTPS, sensitive actions can require a one-time code, and we maintain a list of devices you have explicitly trusted so we can challenge sign-ins from unfamiliar ones.
No service is fully immune to risk. You play a critical role in your own security by keeping your password strong and unique, enabling two-factor authentication, and writing to us immediately at contact@pario.site if you notice anything suspicious.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights over your personal data:
- Access, a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Correction, to fix data that is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Erasure, to delete data we no longer need.
- Restriction, to limit how we use your data while we look into a concern.
- Portability, to receive certain data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Objection, to certain uses of your data, including direct marketing.
- Withdrawal of consent, where we relied on your consent to process data.
- Complaint, to your local data protection authority.
To exercise any of these rights, email contact@pario.site. We may need to verify your identity before acting. We will respond within the time the law gives us, usually within one month.
Some rights are limited. We may need to keep some of your data to meet a legal obligation, defend a legal claim, or finish handling an active deposit, withdrawal, or open bet.
Children
Pario is for adults only. The service is not directed at anyone under the age of eighteen (18), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If we learn that we have, we will delete the data and close the account.
Third-party content
Some market pages display news headlines fetched from third-party news sources. The headlines and the links go to the publisher; clicking through takes you out of Pario. Their privacy practices are their own, and this policy does not apply to them. Review their privacy notices before sharing data with them.
The same applies to anything you reach through the Share button on a market page or through any other outbound link on Pario.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make a material change, we will give you reasonable notice, for example by posting the revised policy on Pario, sending an email, or showing an in-app notice. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the most recent revision.
